The Beam

Happy Wednesday!

I shared this layout on Shimelle's blog recently...

I used some leftover vellum baggies, cut them into strips, and stitched them to look like ruffles.  Then I layered them behind my photo and under my title.  I like the softness and texture that it adds to the layout about my daughter at her dance class.  It was her first time on the balance beam ;)

To see more ideas on how to use leftover product packaging, check out my full post here.

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

So Happy Together

Hello everyone!

I shared this layout on the Scrapbook Circle blog yesterday....

My assignment was to take a previous layout I had created and lift it!  I had never actually lifted myself before so I really enjoyed the process and will be doing it more often.

This photo was taken at our local state fair this past summer.  My daughter and her friends were sitting on the curb anxiously waiting for the parade to begin so they could get candy.  You can even see a glimpse of me in the background holding my niece :)

I used October's "So Happy Together" kit and Add-ons for this layout.

To see which layout I lifted, head on over to the SBC blog here.

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

Home Work

Happy Monday, friends!

I have another project to share with you today that I created for my guest post at shimelle.com using the negative piece of some chipboard packaging as a mask.

I cut out the shape I wanted to use from the chipboard packaging, positioned it on my page like a mask, and misted over the top of it using spray ink to create the arrow/chevron shape pointing to my title.  I also did the same thing on the top right and bottom left corners using yellow spray ink.

I was busy editing photos and blog posting one day when I captured this "selfie" shot in the reflection of my desktop computer.  My youngest thinks that I'm doing my "homework" when I'm busy at the computer desk, ha ha! Best homework ever I always tell her!

Have a great day and TFL!

Mini Album Using Product Packaging

Hello friends!

I created this mini album for the guest post I did at shimelle.com a couple of weeks ago.  It's one of my favorite mini's and came together rather quickly.  I used the leftover plastic sleeves that so many scrapbooking products are packaged in to contain the pages.

I chose sleeves that were all different sizes and had the top notched out (for hanging on store racks) so I could bind them all together by just slipping a piece of ribbon through them.

The photos that I included in this mini were taken at my father's 60th birthday party this past June.  It's not very often that we are all together in one place for photo opps, ha ha!

I used a mixture of products and papers from Gossamer Blue's September Kits for this mini.

One of my favorite sleeves is the little one (above left) filled with wood veneers and sequins.  I think it adds a great texture contrast and gives my mini a whimsical touch.

I misted the circle grid background on the left hand side of the above spread using a leftover die cut piece and some black spray ink.

I also added in a currents list from that day which was a fun way to add in some specific journaling details.

I hope I've inspired you to get creative with some of your leftover product packaging!  To see more creations using product packaging, head on over to shimelle.com to view my full post.

Week 42

Happy Saturday!  I'm here today sharing my PL spread for Week 42 on the Chic Tags blog using the Exclusive October Kit and a few items from some of their new collections.

Those fabulous gold foil letters are from the new Good Tidings Collection and are perfect for ANY layout or PL spread.

The stamps in the Exclusive October Kit were one of my favorite sets of all time, especially the "Happy Little Mess" phrase that I used on the photo of my daughter all bundled up for colder weather.

I placed one of the cute flair buttons from the kit on the bicycle journaling card and added a clear tag from the Happy Place Collection on top.

Left Side:

I love that the journaling cards from the kit and the Happy Place Collection coordinated so well, which made it really easy to pull my spread together.

I used the "This Right Here" rub-on from the Happy Place Collection in the above photo.  They go on really easily and are the perfect touch to any project!

And here's a look at my full spread for Week 42...

Challenge Sunday: Sketch It Out

Hello and happy Sunday!

There's a new sketch challenge up on the Chic Tags blog today!

Here's my take....

I stuck very close to Ashley's sketch and was really inspired by all of the wonderful new Chic Tags products that are available in the shop and used them on this layout.

I cut out the "Hooray For _______" piece from the 4x6 card that can be found in the October Exclusive Kit and added the gold letters from the Good Tidings Collection on top.  I love the font and size of those letters...perfect for any layout!

I also used paper from the new Schoolhouse and Happy Place Collections and I have to say the quality is amazing!  It's the thickest paper I've ever worked with!

Chic Tags Used:  October Exclusive Kit, Schoolhouse (House Lessons Patterned Paper), Happy Place (Phrases, Clear Acetate Tags, Book Worm & Crisp Air Patterned Paper), Good Tidings (Frost Patterned Paper, Gold Foil Letter Stickers)

Now it's your turn to play along and show us your take on the sketch!  Just leave a link to your layout in the comments section here by Noon on Saturday, November 3, 2013 and get a chance to win a $10 Gift Certificate to the Chic Tags store.  Good luck and have a great day!
